An old source for lightening
“Al Fanar” used to be the main source for lightening at night before electricity came to the Gulf countries. It was imported from India and Iran.
It works by gas, and it has a button which controls wether you want the light to be high or low.
The Fanar was kept in each room in the house; usually hanged on the wall. People also used to carry it while they move around from place to place.
Nowadays, Al Fanar is used as a traditional decoration in houses.
